About Sheli

SHELI NAN is a composer, author, teacher and performer. Her music is published by PRB Productions of Albany, California at www.PRBMUSIC.com, SMM Productions and Tech-Clazz Publishing Co. Sheli considers her music studio to be a laboratory of educational revelation. She has taught piano, harpsichord, voice, guitar, and composition for years. Sheli also has 20 editions of music published to date for a variety of baroque and classical instruments. Her book, "The Essential Piano Teacher's Guide" and her CDs are available on amazon.com.


She has been invited to perform in Mexico, (1997) British Anguilla, (1998) Spain, (2000) Cuba (2003) and Buenos Aires (2004) to give concerts of original and period music. In March of 2004, under the baton of Noreen Green, the Los Angeles Jewish Symphony performed Nan's Piece,"Sarah and Hagar.” In 2008 The San Francisco Composers Chamber Orchestra premiered two movements from her symphony, “Signatures in Time and Place” and in 2009 The Ariel Quarett (Bill Barbini) premiered "String Quartet for the 21st Century " at the San Francisco Conservatory. Her keyboard music has been performed by Igor Kipnis, Arthur Haas, Elaine Funaro, Jane Chapman and others.

Sheli's second book was written with Laurette Goldberg, "Bach the Teacher- A Practical Approach to Teaching Bach from the Beginning." Sheli presented a program of original music, "Baroque Cabaret" at a fringe concert during the Berkeley Early Music Festival where the first act of her new opera, "SAGA - Portrait of a 21st Century Child" premiered along with her adult fairy tale, "Johann's Hidden Hollow,"  performed by Andrew Fouts. This year, 2012, the San Francisco Composers Chamber Orchestra will premiere the Overture to "SAGA-Portrait of a 21st Century Child" during the Berkeley Early Music Festival. Sheli will be performing piano along with the orchestra.

Among Sheli's performances, she wrote and starred in the musical theatre piece, "The Queen of Spain and Her Favorite Teacher, Domingo Escarlatti" produced by Music Sources in Berkeley, Ca.
